The Philadelphia Sketch Club is pleased to announce its Fourth Annual Art of the Flower Exhibition.  This juried exhibit will run from March 6th through the 22nd of 2009 as a compliment to the nationally famous Philadelphia Flower Show of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.  This show will feature 2 and 3 dimensional works in various media on the theme of flowers.  An Artists’ Reception will be held on Sunday, March 8th, from 2 to 4 PM with awards being presented at 3 PM.  Admission is free.  The Philadelphia Sketch Club is the oldest artists club in the United States and is located at 235 South Camac Street in Philadelphia.  Gallery hours are M/W/F/Sa/Su from 1 to 5 PM.

The Juror for the exhibition is James P. Repenning who is the President and Head Instructor of Repenning Fine Arts in Audubon, NJ.  The Juror is also invited to show his work in the exhibition and attached is the following image of his work:

Opening at the same time in the Sketch Club’s first floor gallery is the exhibition Lights: Light as Icon.  Artist Donald Meyer curates this exposition on "light as icon".  Featured are individual works by Sketch Club Members, including collaborators Dick Goldberg and Don Brewer, in a variety of media, including projection, considering how light and the marks made to 'form' light create our primary present-day 'metaphor of consciousness'.  A panel discussion on this exhibition is open to the public on Friday March 13th at 8PM.
